4 simple and effective ways to remove glue from clothes
1 Use a razor
Step 1 : Place the garment that has the stain on it on a flat surface first to make it easier to handle.
Note that do not wash your clothes after it is glued. If you've washed the fabric before you notice the stickiness, removing the stain will take more effort.
Step 2 : Scrape off the adhesive layer from the fabric. Do this carefully, using an object with a flat edge, like a small knife or an old credit card. Try to remove as much substance as possible. This will make the removal process much easier.
If you've washed the fabric, you may not be able to get as much glue off the garment.
Step 3 : Prepare the tool to remove the adhesive. To remove stubborn glue, you'll need a glue remover or water substitute that does the same thing. Besides, a soft brush or an old soft cotton pad will help very well to remove the adhesive.
Step 4 : Test in a small area.
Choose an inconspicuous area of the garment to test the bleach. This way you will know if the product will stain your fabric. Some delicate fabrics, like satin or silk, are more likely to stain than more durable fabrics, like cotton or polyester.
If the glue remover stains your clothes, choose a different remover.
2 Use bleach
Step 1 : Choose a adhesive removal product. There are a number of different products you can use to remove sticky substances from clothes and fabrics. Here are some of the most popular products:
- Dish soap
- WD-40
- Rubbing alcohol
- Peanut butter
- Vegetable oil
- Nail polish remover containing acetone.
- Goo-Gone or another adhesive product
Step 2 : Rub a small amount of your removal product onto the affected garment. The amount of product that you need will depend on the size of your stain, but start with a small amount.
For more liquid products, like nail polish remover, soak a cotton ball and then dip it onto the cloth.
Step 3 : Using your fingers or a soft brush, rub the glued area of the fabric until the adhesive disappears. This may take up to 10 -15 minutes . Scrape off any pieces that stick out in the process.
Step 4 : After the glue has been removed from the clothes, wash the clothes as usual.
3 Use heat
Step 1 : Using magnetic heat to remove glue on clothes is also one of the ways. Place your iron on the glue stain and wait for it to heat up. Do not use the steam setting.
You need to prepare tissues when performing this method.
Step 2 : Place the pants on the glue stain with two layers of paper towels. The tissue should cover the entire sticky area, so if you have very large stains, you may need a few more paper towels.
Step 3 : Hold the iron over the sticky area. Take your iron and press down on the top of the paper towel to cover the stain. Hold the iron over the stain for about 5 to 10 seconds . Some fabrics are more flammable than others like polyester or acetate, so be careful.
Step 4 : Remove the iron and start shaving. After about 5-10 seconds the iron has warmed up enough, the user can start scraping the adhesive off. Use a flat edge, like an old credit card or your fingernail to scrape.
Step 5 : Repeat until the glue is gone on the clothes. Repeat the heating process for 5 to 10 seconds and then scrape the adhesive until the stain is gone.
After the glue stain has completely removed, put the pants in the wash as usual.
4 Put in the freezer
Step 1 : Put the glued clothes in or the freezer compartment of . Some adhesives, like hot glue or chewing gum, become very brittle when they are frozen.
Note that this method works better with adhesives such as gum and glue-like substances than with stickers or adhesives that have penetrated the fabric.
Step 2 : After the adhesive is frozen, take the clothes out of the freezer. Immediately begin scraping the substance with a flat knife or old credit card. The frozen glass glue will pop off and separate from the fabric.
Step 3 : If the adhesive has frozen but still does not remove all the adhesive, use another method to remove the remaining stain. Try using heat or an adhesive removal product to remove any remaining adhesive.
After the stain is completely removed, you can wash the clothes.
